The family of Shubham Dwivedi, one of the victims of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, has welcomed India’s retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor, calling it a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives in the heinous act of terror.

Shubham’s wife expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “I want to thank PM Modi for taking revenge for my husband’s death. My entire family had trust in him, and the way he replied, he has kept our trust alive. This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever my husband is, he will be at peace today.”

The 31-year-old businessman from Kanpur was among the 26 civilians killed in the brutal attack in Pahalgam. His father, Sanjay Dwivedi, also shared his appreciation for the Indian Armed Forces, saying, “I salute the Indian army and thank PM Modi, who listened to the pain of the country’s people… My entire family has been feeling light since we heard this news.”

A relative, Manoj Dwivedi, echoed the sentiment, stating that justice had finally been served. “We were sure PM Modi would take the strictest steps to finish terrorism. I want to thank PM Modi for the real tribute that the Army has given today to our son.”

Operation Sindoor marks India’s deepest strike inside Pakistan’s undisputed territory since the 1971 war. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force jointly targeted nine terror sites — four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir — using precision-guided munitions. The mission, monitored closely by Prime Minister Modi throughout the night, aimed to eliminate senior operatives of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana visited Shubham’s residence in Kanpur to pay respects. “We lost a child. His whole family is grieving. 26 innocent civilians were killed… security forces destroyed the terror sites. We can’t thank our security forces enough,” he said.

Pragati Jagdale, wife of another victim, Santosh Jagdale from Maharashtra, also praised the government’s action. “Modi ji has shown Pakistan that we will not sit quietly. I feel with #OperationSindoor, PM Modi will end terrorism,” she said.

The Ministry of Defence stated that the action was carefully calibrated to avoid escalation, targeting only terrorist infrastructure and sparing Pakistani military assets. “Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature,” the statement emphasized.

The strikes come as a powerful message from India — that acts of terror will not go unanswered.
